Part Used : น้ำมันหอมระเหยActivity : DRUG INTERACTIONSolvent/Active Compound : Essential oil (EuHN)*Type of experiment : in vitroType of animal : -Type of study : -N(Total) : -N(Treatment) : -Sex : -Age : -Route : -Dose/Conc.(herb) : 8-0.0625 microlitre/mlDuration : -Type of interaction : PharmacodynamicsInteraction with drug : CiprofloxacinDose/Conc.(drug) : -Result : PositiveRemark : When two eucalyptus essential oils were combined with ciprofloxacin, synergism was detected against two out of three tested MDR A. baumannii strains (Aba-4914 and Aba-5055), with FlC index value lower than 0.5. This combination against strain Aba-6673 expressed additive effect (FlC index=0.53). However, in all combinations against three A. baumanli strains the MlC value for ClP was reduced to 1/4 MlC. Synergistic effect detected in combination of EuB essential oil and ClP against Aba-4914 and Aba-5055 was the same as in combinations with EuHN essential oil.Note : *This study used two E. camaldulensis essential oils originating from Herceg Novi (EuHN) and Bar (EuB).

The combination of EO-PMB against MDR strain Aba-4914 reduced MiC value for PMB to 1/2 MlC. The same combination was more efficient against Aba-5055, lowering the MlC value for PMB to 1/4 in combination with EuHN, while in combination with EuB this value was reduced to 1/8 MlC for PMB. In all examined combinations the MlC values for PMB were reduced to the break point or under it.Note : *This study used two E. camaldulensis essential oils originating from Herceg Novi (EuHN) and Bar (EuB).

Against MDR strain Aba-4914, combinatioins with both eucalyptus oils acted synergistically, lowering the GEN concentrations to 64 microgram/mL MlC in combination with EuHN and to 32 microgram/mL MlC in Gen-EuB combination. The same combination against strain Aba-6673 was interpreted as additive effect with FlC index close to 0.5, with the MlCs reduced to 1/8 MlC in combination with EuHN and 1/16 with EuB. The EuHN-Gen combination (MlC value for essential oil and 1/16 MlC for GEN), although not synergistic, lowered the MlC value to the break point for GEN.Note : *This study used two E. camaldulensis essential oils originating from Herceg Novi (EuHN) and Bar (EuB).
