J ETHNOPHARMACOL 2016 Vol.178(),125-36  $62191 [Full]

Part Used : น้ำมันหอมระเหย
Activity : DRUG INTERACTION
Solvent/Active Compound : Essential oil (EuHN)*
Type of experiment : in vitro
Type of animal : -
Type of study : -
N(Total) : -
N(Treatment) : -
Sex : -
Age : -
Route : -
Dose/Conc.(herb) : 8-0.0625 microlitre/ml
Duration : -
Type of interaction : Pharmacodynamics
Interaction with drug : Ciprofloxacin
Dose/Conc.(drug) : -
Result : Positive
Remark : When two eucalyptus essential oils were combined with ciprofloxacin, synergism was detected against two out of three tested MDR A. baumannii strains (Aba-4914 and Aba-5055), with FlC index value lower than 0.5. This combination against strain Aba-6673 expressed additive effect (FlC index=0.53). However, in all combinations against three A. baumanli strains the MlC value for ClP was reduced to 1/4 MlC. Synergistic effect detected in combination of EuB essential oil and ClP against Aba-4914 and Aba-5055 was the same as in combinations with EuHN essential oil.
Note : *This study used two E. camaldulensis essential oils originating from Herceg Novi (EuHN) and Bar (EuB).
