INT J CURR RES REV 2012 Vol.4(14),23-7  $54241 [Full]

Part Used : ผล
Activity : DRUG INTERACTION
Solvent/Active Compound : -
Type of experiment : in vivo
Type of animal : rat
Type of study : -
N(Total) : -
N(Treatment) : -
Sex : -
Age : -
Route : Oral administration
Dose/Conc.(herb) : 50% unripe plantain (standard pellet diet: unripe plantain, 1:1)
Duration : blood sample were taken before oral administration of pefloxacin an at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 6.0, 8.0, 10.0, 12.0 and 24.0 h after administered.
Type of interaction : Pharmacodynamics
Interaction with drug : Pefloxacin
Dose/Conc.(drug) : -
Result : Positive
Remark : Results: the results indicate the relative extent of bioavailability of pefloxacin in the presence of 50% and 100% unripe plantain respectively, was significantly (p<0.05) greater than that of pefloxacin in the presence of standard pellet feeds. This was reflected by a mean increase of 23% and 45% in area under the curve (AUC 0-24) when pefloxacin was given with 50% 100% unripe plantain respectively. It was also noted that the pefloxacin peak plasma concentration was increase by 19% when given with 50% unripe plantain or 30% when given with 100% unripe plantain. There was no significant change in the mean time to reach peak plasma concentration, a rough estimate of absorption rate.
