Remark : The protective effect of NAC against CCl4 and TAA induced chronic liver pathology is due to decreased oxidative stress by regenerating antioxidant enzymes and GSH levels and suppression of CYP2E1 levels.
Note : Thirty rats were divided into 5 groups (6/group) : Group A: control (vehicle) Group B: (CCl4) toxin control (sacrificed 3 days after last dose of toxin). Rest of the toxin treated groups were maintained for a further 4 weeks during which Group C: of CCl4 treatment groups (CCl4 + vehicle) animals received vehicle only and were allowed to recover without any treatment Group D: Group E animals received NAC 25 mg/kg i.p. respectively Group E: animals received NAC 50 mg/kg, i.p. respectively.
