LU F,SHEN L,QIN Y,ET AL.
CHIN J INTEGR MED 2008 Vol.14(1),56-60  $20930 [Full]

Part Used : ไม่ระบุ
Activity : ANTIHYPERGLYCEMIC ACTIVITY
Solvent/Active Compound : saponins
Type of experiment : human
Type of animal : -
Type of study : Double-blind trial
N(Total) : 69 (M/F = 38/31)
N(Treatment) : 46 (M/F = 25/21)
Sex : Both sex
Age : 54.8 +/-7.2 years (control = 53.7 +/-6.8 years)
Route : Oral administration
Dose/Conc.(herb) : 6 capsules each time and thrice a day after meals
Duration : 12 weeks
Type of interaction : Pharmacodynamics
Interaction with drug : Sulfonylurea
Dose/Conc.(drug) : -
Result : Positive
Remark : Results: The combined therapy of TFGs with sulfonylureas hypoglycemic drug could lower the blood glucose level and ameliorate clinical symptoms in the treatment of T2DM, and the therapy was relatively safe.
Note : Subject total: patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) not well controlled by sulfonylureas alone were randomly assigned to the treated group (46 cases) and the control group (23 cases). Dose: Trigonella foenum-graecum L. total saponins (TFGs) capsules; 0.35 g/pill, each gram of powder equals to 16 g of crude drug.

[3] COMPLEMENTARY HYPOGLYCEMIC AND ANTI-HYPERGLYCEMIC ACTIVITY OF VARIOUS EXTRACTS OF FENUGREEK SEEDS IN RATS.
YADAV M,TOMAR R,PRASAD G,ET AL.
ASIAN J BIOCHEM 2008 Vol.3(3),182-7  420845 [Abstract]

Part Used : เมล็ด
Activity : ANTIHYPERGLYCEMIC ACTIVITY
Solvent/Active Compound : water extract
Type of experiment : in vivo
Type of animal : rat
Type of study : -
N(Total) : -
N(Treatment) : -
Sex : -
Age : -
Route : -
Dose/Conc.(herb) : 200 mg/kg
Duration : -
Type of interaction : Pharmacokinetics
Interaction with drug : Glimepiride
Dose/Conc.(drug) : 5-20 mg/kg
Result : Negative
Remark : The combination of water extract and lower dose of glimepiride (5 mg/kg) has shown safer and potent hypoglycemic as well as antihyperglycemic activity and not created severe hypoglycemia in normal rats, while higher doses (200 mg/kg of water extract and 10 and 20 mg/kg of glimepiride) were generated lethal hypoglycemia in normal rats.
