[1] THE POTENTIAL EFFECT OF EXCESSIVE COFFEE CONSUMPTION ON NICOTINE METABOLISM: CYP2A6 INHIBITION BY CAFFEIC ACID AND QUERCETIN.
WOODWARD GM
BIOSCIENCE HORIZONS 2008 Vol.1(2),98-103  $25030 [Full]

Part Used : ไม่ระบุ
Activity : CYP2A6 INHIBITION
Solvent/Active Compound : caffeic acid
Type of experiment : in vitro
Type of animal : -
Type of study : -
N(Total) : -
N(Treatment) : -
Sex : -
Age : -
Route : -
Dose/Conc.(herb) : 25 micromolar
Duration : -
Type of interaction : Pharmacokinetics
Interaction with drug : -
Dose/Conc.(drug) : -
Result : Positive
Remark : - It was found that both caffeic acid and quercetin, major polyphenolic constituents of caffeine containing beverages, significantly inhibited CYP2A6 activity in vitro by 37.9% (P<0.05) and 48.2% (P<0.05), respectively.
Note : - It is suggested that polyphenol interaction with CYP2A6 prolongs the pharmacological effects of nicotine by decreasing its rate of elimination.
