Remark : There was significant decrease in the time at which drug at a maximum concentration, half life of drug and increase in the maximum concentration of drug in the plasma of metformin in Musa sapientum (MS) bark juice treated groups as compared to diabetic control group (P<0.01).
Note : Type of experiment: All the rats were divided into three groups: normal control, diabetic and diabetic+MS juice groups. Diabetes was induced in rats by administering alloxan (120 mg/kg) saline solution and maintained for 8 week. MS bark juice was given to diabetic+MS juice group for 57 days and the rest groups received saline for the same duration. The effect of MS bark juice on the pharmacokinetic of orally administered single dose of metformin (350 mg/kg) was evaluated on the 57 th day of protocol.
