[1] INTERACTION OF CINNAMIC ACID DERIVATIVES WITH COMMERCIAL HYPOGLYCEMIC DRUGS ON 2-DEOXYGLUCOSE UPTAKE IN 3T3-L1 ADIPOCYTES.
PRANAV KUMAR PRABHAKAR,MUKESH DOBLE
J AGRIC FOOD CHEM 2011 Vol.59(),9835-44  $38348 [Full]

Part Used : ไม่ระบุ
Activity : DRUG INTERACTION
Solvent/Active Compound : p-coumaric acid
Type of experiment : in vitro
Type of animal : -
Type of study : -
N(Total) : -
N(Treatment) : -
Sex : -
Age : -
Route : -
Dose/Conc.(herb) : 0-100 micromolar
Duration : 24-48 hours
Type of interaction : Pharmacodynamics
Interaction with drug : Metformin
Dose/Conc.(drug) : 0-100 micromolar
Result : Positive
Remark : - Metformin (20 micromolar) with ferulic acid (25 micromolar), eugenol (25 micromolar), chlorogenic acid (25 micromolar), p-coumaric acid (25 micromolar), caffeic acid (25 micromolar), and cinnamic acid (25 micromolar) increased 2DG uptake by 6.5-, 6.4-, 6.2-, 6.1-, 6.3-, and 5.9-fold, respectively, when compared to control. - All of the phytochemicals, except cinnamic acid, showed synergistic behavior with both the OHDs in the uptake of 2DG, whereas cinnamic acid exhibited an additive effect.
Note : The effect of cinnamic acid, ferulic acid, p-coumaric acid, eugenol, chlorogenic acid, and caffeic acid, alone and in combination with two commercial oral hypoglycemic drugs (OHD), namely, thiazolidinedione (THZ) and metformin on the uptake of 2-deoxyglucose (2DG) by 3T3-L1 adipocytes is studied.

[2] EFFECT OF ALLIUM SATIVUM ON THE PHARMACOKINETIC OF METFORMIN IN RAT PLASMA: A HERB-DRUG INTERACTION STUDY.
CHOUREY,SHIKHA;NARSINGHANI,TAMANNA;SONI,LOVE KUMAR.
PHARMA CHEMICA 2011 Vol.3(2),287-91  $60018 [Full]

Part Used : ไม่ระบุ
Activity : EFFECTS ON PHARMACOKINETIC
Solvent/Active Compound : Garlic extract
Type of experiment : in vivo
Type of animal : rat
Type of study : -
N(Total) : -
N(Treatment) : -
Sex : -
Age : -
Route : Oral administration
Dose/Conc.(herb) : 500 mg/kg
Duration : 8 days
Type of interaction : Pharmacokinetics
Interaction with drug : Metformin
Dose/Conc.(drug) : 320 mg/kg
Result : Positive
Remark : Garlic is altering the pharmacokinetics of Metformin in rats by significantly increasing its Cmax and AUC0-12h. With repeated dose administration, a prominent effect is seen by a significant increase in Cmax, AUC0-12h and slight increase in t1/2.
