Duration : 3 days
Type of interaction : Pharmacokinetics
Interaction with drug : Diclofenac
Dose/Conc.(drug) : 25 mg
Result : Positive
Remark : - The diclofenac excreted with co-administration of H. sabdariffa was much lower (0.56+/-0.17 microgram/mL) than with the control (0.90+/-0.50 microgram/mL) with a significant difference observed (p<0.05; 95% confidence interval means - 0.319; 0.037 to 0.602; F=7.069).
Note : - There was a reduction in the amount of diclofenac excreted and the wide variability observed in the control with the water beverage of Hibiscus sabdariffa (p<0.05). There is an increasing need to counsel patients against the use of plant beverages with drugs.

EUR J DRUG METAB PHARMACOKINET 2004 Vol.29(1),25-9  $58256 [Full]

Part Used : กลีบเลี้ยง
Activity : DRUG INTERACTION
Solvent/Active Compound : -
Type of experiment : human
Type of animal : -
Type of study : Cross over
N(Total) : 6
N(Treatment) : 6
Sex : Male
Age : 28.50+/-1.76 years
Route : Oral administration
Dose/Conc.(herb) : sweetened aqueous extract prepared from 30 g dried hibiscus calyces
Duration : -
Type of interaction : Pharmacokinetics
Interaction with drug : Paracetamol*/Acetaminophen/APAP/N-acetyl-p-aminophenol
Dose/Conc.(drug) : 10 mg/kg
Result : Negative
Remark : - In the first phase on oral dose of acetaminophen (1 g) was administered to the volunteer and in the second phases, zobo drink (extract of H. Sabdariffa) was ingested by the volunteers 1.30 h prior the administration of acetaminophen (1 g). - No significant kinetic changes were observed when the extract was administered concomitanty with acetaminophen, except for a slight elevation of total body clearance (Clt) 11.69%.

[4] SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN CHLOROQUINE BIOAVAILABILITY FOLLOWING COADMINISTRATION WITH THE SUDANESE BEVERAGES ARADAIB, KARKADI AND LEMON.
MAHMOUD BM,ALI HM,HOMEIDA MM,ET AL.
J ANTIMICROB CHEMOTHER 1994 Vol.33(5),1005-9  371285 [Abstract]

Part Used : ไม่ระบุ
Activity : DRUG INTERACTION
Solvent/Active Compound : karkadi
Type of experiment : human
Type of animal : -
Type of study : non specified
N(Total) : -
N(Treatment) : -
Sex : Male
Age : -
Route : Oral administration
Dose/Conc.(herb) : -
Duration : Coadministration with drug
Type of interaction : Pharmacokinetics
Interaction with drug : Chloroquine*/Chloroquine sulphate
Dose/Conc.(drug) : 600 mg
Result : Positive
Remark : The mean AUC values after administration with water (control) and karkadi were 7.52 +/- 0.87 and 2.16 +/- 0.30, mg.h/L, respectively. The corresponding mean Cmax values were 553 +/- 17.8 and 184 +/- 21.3 mg/L and the corresponding Tmax values were 3.0 +/- 1.0 and 3.2 +/- 1.2 h for control and aradaib, respoectively. The results indicate a statistically significant reduction in the AUC and Cmax of chloroquine as a result of a coadministration with the aradaib beverages.
Note : Data incomplete.
