CURR DRUG METAB 2007 Vol.8(6),623-30  361757 [Abstract]

Part Used : น้ำจากผล
Activity : DRUG INTERACTION
Solvent/Active Compound : Furanocoumarins, Fruit juices of 'changshanhuyou' (Citrus changshanhuyou Y.B. Chang)
Type of experiment : human
Type of animal : -
Type of study : Open trial
N(Total) : 12*
N(Treatment) : 12
Sex : Male
Age : -
Route : Oral administration
Dose/Conc.(herb) : 250 mL of fruit juices of Changshanhuyou with 26-mmol (10-mg) plain tablet felodipine.
Duration : Observed for 12 h after administration of drug
Type of interaction : Pharmacokinetics
Interaction with drug : Felodipine
Dose/Conc.(drug) : 26-mmol (10-mg) plain tablet felodipine
Result : Positive
Remark : Results: The geometric mean and 90% confidence intervals of pharmacokinetic parameters for human oral felodipine with C. paradisi, C. grandis Osbeck vs. Guanxi, C. changshanhuyou Y.B. Chang and water were respectively as follows: peak plasma concentration (nmol.bul.L-1), 37 (32-44), 25 (21-29), 19 (16-22) and 18 (15-21); area under the plasma concentration-time curve (nmol.bul.h.bul.L-1), 118 (103-136), 84 (73-97), 64 (56-74) and 59 (51-68). Subjects showed higher heart rates with C. paradisi Macf than with C. changshanhuyou Y.B. Chang or water. *Subject total: Subjects were healthy volunteers.

Dose/Conc.(herb) :
Duration :
Type of interaction : Pharmacokinetics
Interaction with drug : Felodipine
Dose/Conc.(drug) :
Result : Positive
Remark : Results: Citrus paradisi had more furanocoumarins and at higher levels than C. grandis Osbeck vs. Guanxi while C. changshanhuyou Y.B. Chang had none, and their potencies for in vitro CYP3A inhibition were in the order as C. paradisi > C. grandis Osbeck vs. Guanxi > C. changshanhuyou Y.B. Chang.

[14] SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN CHLOROQUINE BIOAVAILABILITY FOLLOWING COADMINISTRATION WITH THE SUDANESE BEVERAGES ARADAIB, KARKADI AND LEMON.

Part Used : ไม่ระบุ
Activity : DRUG INTERACTION
Solvent/Active Compound : Lemon
Type of experiment : human
Type of animal : -
Type of study : non specified
N(Total) : -
N(Treatment) : -
Sex : Male
Age : -
Route : Oral administration
Dose/Conc.(herb) : -
Duration : Coadministration with drug
Type of interaction : Pharmacokinetics
Interaction with drug : Chloroquine*/Chloroquine sulphate
Dose/Conc.(drug) : 600 mg
Result : Positive
Remark : The mean AUC values after administration with water (control) and lemon were 7.52 +/- 0.87 and 2.41 +/- 0.29, mg.h/L, respectively. The corresponding mean Cmax values were 553 +/- 17.8 and 184 +/- 21.3 mg/L and the corresponding Tmax values were 3.0 +/- 1.0 and 3.2 +/- 1.2 h for control and aradaib, respoectively. The results indicate a statistically significant reduction in the AUC and Cmax of chloroquine as a result of a coadministration with the aradaib beverages.

[16] ACUTE EFFECTS OF DRINKING GRAPEFRUIT JUICE ON THE PHARMACOKINETICS AND DYNAMICS ON FELODIPINE -AND ITS POTENTIAL CLINICAL RELEVANCE.
EDGAR B,BAILEY D,BERGSTRAND R,ET AL.
EUR J CLIN PHARMACOL 1992 Vol.42(3),313-7  J01822 [Abstract]

Part Used : น้ำจากผล
Activity : DRUG INTERACTION
Solvent/Active Compound : grapefruit juice
Type of experiment : human
Type of animal : -
Type of study : Open trial
N(Total) : 9
N(Treatment) : 9
Sex : Male
Age : middle-aged
Route : Oral administration
Dose/Conc.(herb) :
Duration : -
Type of interaction : P.Kinetics & P.Dynamics
Interaction with drug : Felodipine
Dose/Conc.(drug) : Felodipine 5 mg plain tablet
Result : Positive
Remark : Result: Compared to water, grapefruit juice caused an increase in Cmax from mean 6 to 16 nmol.l-1, and in the AUC from 23 to 65 nmol.h.l-1. The change in AUC corresponded to an increase in the systemic availability of felodipine from 15 to 45%, assuming no change in its clearance. The higher plasma concentrations of felodipine taken with grapefruit juice resulted in a greater change in blood pressure measured in the morning 3 h after dosing (-9%) than did water (0%).
