[3] PHYTOCHEMICAL AND PHARMACOLOGICAL STUDIES ON RADIX ANGELICA SINENSIS.
CHEN,XIAO-PENG;LI,WEI;XIAO,XUE-FENG;ET AL.
ZHONGGUO TIANRAN YAOWU 2013 Vol.11(6),577-87  $62169 [Full]

Part Used : ราก
Activity : DRUG INTERACTION
Solvent/Active Compound : -
Type of experiment : in vivo
Type of animal : rabbit
Type of study : -
N(Total) : -
N(Treatment) : -
Sex : -
Age : -
Route : Oral administration
Dose/Conc.(herb) : -
Duration : 3 days
Type of interaction : P.Kinetics & P.Dynamics
Interaction with drug : Warfarin
Dose/Conc.(drug) : -
Result : Positive
Remark : The effects of root of Angelica sinensis (RAS) on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of warfarin in rabbits showed RAS treatment did not affect prothrombin time (PT) by itself, but significantly lowered PT values three days after co-treatment with single dose warfarin. The results indicate that precautionasy advice should be given to patients who self-medicate with RAS while on chronic treatment with warfarin.

Type of experiment : human
Type of animal : -
Type of study : Case report
N(Total) : 1
N(Treatment) : 1
Sex : Female
Age : -
Route : Oral administration
Dose/Conc.(herb) : once or twice daily (not specified dose)
Duration : 4 weeks
Type of interaction : Pharmacodynamics
Interaction with drug : Warfarin
Dose/Conc.(drug) : 5 mg/d
Result : Positive
Remark : A woman who had been taking warfarin 5 mg/d for nearly two years and had an international normalized ratio (lNR) stabilized at 2-3, experienced a sudden increase in hear lNR to 4.9. The patient said she recent addition of root of Angelica sinensis (RAS) once or twice daily during the preceding four weeks for the management of menopausal symptoms. The patient was instructed to discontinue RAS, and her lNR declined to the therapeutic range within four weeks.
