[1] THE EFFECT OF COMPLEMENTARY AND ALTERNATIVE MEDICINES ON CYP3A4-MEDIATED METABOLISM OF THREE DIFFERENT SUBSTRATES: 7-BENZYLOXY-4-TRIFLUOROMETHYL-COUMARIN, MIDAZOLAM AND DOCETAXEL.
MOOIMAN,KIM D.;MAAS-BAKKER,ROEL F.;HENDRIKX,JEROEN J.M.A.;ET AL.
J PHARM PHARMACOL 2014 Vol.66(6),865-74  $52931 [Full]

Part Used : เมล็ด
Activity : CYP3A4 INHIBITION
Solvent/Active Compound : grape seed extract
Type of experiment : in vitro
Type of animal : -
Type of study : -
N(Total) : -
N(Treatment) : -
Sex : -
Age : -
Route : -
Dose/Conc.(herb) : 25 microgram/ml
Duration : 5 minutes
Type of interaction : Pharmacokinetics
Interaction with drug : Midazolam*/Versed/Dormicum
Dose/Conc.(drug) : -
Result : Positive
Remark : - Details of the standardized Grape seed extracts: 5.08% Epigallocatechin, 0.93% Catechin, 6.30% Epicatechin, 0.02% Epigallocatechin gallate, 0.03% Epicatechin gallate. - Results: The degree of CYP3A4 inhibition of Ginkgo biloba was 98.4% and IC50 values of that inhibit CYP3A4-mediated metabolism of midazolam = 4.58 microgram/ml, 95% Cl: 3.69-5.68.
Note : The effects of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) on CYP3A4-mediated metabolism of midazolam and docetaxel were determined in human liver microsomes (HLM), using liquid-chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).

[2] EFFECTS OF CONTINUOUS INGESTION OF GREEN TEA OR GRAPE SEED EXTRACTS ON THE PHARMACOKINETICS OF MIDAZOLAM.
NISHIKAWA M,ARIYOSHI N,KOTANI A,ET AL.
DRUG METABOLISM AND PHARMACOKINETICS 2004 Vol.19(4),280-9  271495 [Abstract]

Part Used : เมล็ด
Activity : CYP3A4 INHIBITION
Solvent/Active Compound : -
Type of experiment : in vivo
Type of animal : rat
Type of study : -
N(Total) : -
N(Treatment) : -
Sex : -
Age : -
Route : -
Dose/Conc.(herb) : -
Duration : 1 weeks
Type of interaction : Pharmacokinetics
Interaction with drug : Midazolam*/Versed/Dormicum
Dose/Conc.(drug) : -
Result : Positive
Remark : 1 wk of treatment with green tea ext., but not grape seed ext., caused a significant increase in the Cmax and AUCO-infinity of orally administered midazolam (MDZ) without change in the t1/2, suggesting a redn. in CYP3A activity in the small intestines.
