Remark : In spite of a 20-fold difference in dietay linoleic acid content, the safflower oil group had similar prostaglandin-generating capacities to the saturated fat control group, suggesting tight metabolic control of prostaglandin and their precursors. Concurrent administration of omega-3 fatty acid and indomethacin reduced prostaglandin levels further than those obtainable by diet alone, domonstrating that the diet not results in maximal inhibition.
