A decrease in clearance and an increase in AUC of the sulfonamide also occurred at the low dose of curcuminoids (p<0.05). At 10 mg/kg, curcuminoids also inhibited the clearance of sulfamazathine which resulted in a significant increase of AUC (p<0.05), but not the elimination half-life of the drug.Note : The animals obtained curcuminoids 5 and 10 mg/kg of body weight orally, one hour prior to an injection of sulfamethazine (50 mg/kg of body weight) i.p. Blood sample (0.2-0.3 mL) were subsequently withdrawn from the tail vein at various time intervals and collected into heparinized tubes.
