Remark : The combination vecenin-2 (VCN-2) and docetaxel (DTL) induced synergistic effect with significant tumor regression and reduction in tumor-weight as compared to the vehicle treated group. Alternate day oral administration of DTL along with VCN-2 was highly effective and tolerable without any overt toxicity. VCN-2 alone and in combination with DTL, up-regulated the expression of E-cadherin. The PARP-cleavage, a marker of apoptosis, was evident in VCN-2 treated groups which was further enhanced with DTL co-administration. VCN-2 decreased pAkt, pRb, PCNA, cyclin D1, fibronectin, lGF-1R levels which were further down-regulated with VCN-2 and DTL combinatorial treatment.
